Transforming Trauma Professional Development Workshop

Are you a professional working with people who have experienced trauma?

Are you wondering how you can work more creatively, using experiential and arts based practices?

Do you want to know more about how and why these approaches are so helpful in transforming the effects of trauma?

This two day professional development workshop introduces you to a theory base grounded in holistic arts therapy, narrative, psycho-somatic and attachment oriented practice.

You can expect to gain experience and share insights about creating safety and trust, practice embodied empathy and attunement, be introduced to practical activities, and learn about finding ways in to engagement using holistic approaches.

Our ways of working have been developed over decades of working with people experiencing the effects of interpersonal, intergenerational and cultural trauma. You will encounter the ease and value of integrating practices such as mindfulness, yoga, empathic presence, co-regulation, visual arts, embodiment and story in to your work.

Atira and Carla share with you our mutual intention to ease suffering and facilitate healing, connection and empowerment through co-creating a space of safety. With you, we engage together in understanding how trauma influences our mind, body, emotions, beliefs and behaviours.

We explore ways to create new ways of responding to, regulating and transforming the effects of the past in the present to create more hopeful and meaningful futures. We engage in practical exercises and reflect on adapting to diverse contexts and unique client needs with grounded and mindful responses.

We anticipate that you will develop insight, understanding, confidence and a capacity to bring holistic arts therapy approaches in to your work. Our intention is to keep working collectively in broadening the ripple effects of healing, well-being and empowerment that we care about together.
