Art Therapy
Aboriginal Education

aHa provides a range of arts based and experiential services both in the studio or your location. We provide therapy, education, workshops, supervision and professional development.

There is no need to be an artist. We use art making processes and dialogue to express, explore and gain things like insight, meaning and self-acceptance. This can be helpful for processing trauma, making decisions, coping with loss in relationship, work or fertility, releasing the impact of the past and reclaiming creativity and authorship of your life.

Professional Development

Arts based, narrative, psycho-somatic, mindfulness and attachment informed practices inform our work. We tailor professional development and training for you and your work colleagues to help you use these practices in your own unique work context with the particular people you work with. We love to share our work with other professionals including psychologists, counsellors, educators, therapists, youth workers and anyone who works with people.

Themes can include:

  • Working with people, art materials and space

  • Using body-based approaches

  • Understanding the impact of the past in the present

  • Transforming trauma

  • Cultivating strengths, visioning and social change.

Phoenix Armit invites you to develop your understanding of Aboriginal history and culture. His approach uses story telling, walks in nature, tracking and artwork.

He says:

"As a cultural man grown up in both traditional law and Western society, I feel and understand that for today and the future, we need to reflect on the importance of the land that provides us with our physical, spiritual and emotional needs.

I invite you to come along and have a yarn about what you see, feel and believe. Let’s have a gathering. Us mob, people and animals on this land, have interest in the Aboriginal cultural perspective about living on the country, eating natural foods and bettering ourselves and the environment.

You are more than welcome to voice your thoughts, ideas, feelings, experiences and beliefs – good or bad. Some of us know our blood lines, some feel it, and some want to connect with our extraordinary Australian Indigenous culture.

We all live within it. Let’s get together."

Small Group Supervision

A small group of 2 - 4 counsellors and therapists provides a wonderful model of supervision with a number of benefits. Together we create a safe intimate space to reflect on, digest, debrief, receive feedback about your current practice and practice self care. We use dialogue, holistic perspectives and art-based methods. The small group means you gain from the input of the other group members and expand your horizon of experience as you hear about their work. In this way you create a professional support network for yourself AND share the cost!
